MapsGPS for Pebble - Smartwatch maps and directions App Reviews

Good but still some bugs.

I was really surprised to how accurate the maps were. The one that show terrain are a little weird though. The app only works if it was recently open on the phone.

Worst app ever for pepple

Tho program doesnt work with the pebble watch, it just shows a map an has no direction beside on a map that does not give the step by step instruction as it claims. Waste of money.

Innovative use for the Pebble

The method of getting around in the app is a little odd, but after a quick email to the developer, I was able to find the turn by turn directions. Good execution for such a small screen to work with.

Doesnt work

There is nothing left for me but to give one star. The app managed to pull map only once - wrong location and frozen. Could not zoom in or out. Every other attempt was unsuccessful. All I could see is the black screen. Im quite disappointed since I liked the idea a lot. One detail - I live in China where Apple is using AutoNavi maps. Looking forward to update my review

Great App for Pebble

I used this to help me drive to a location that I was not familiar with. Worked well! Would love to have the Pebble vibrate as I was getting close to a turn. Cumbersome to keep looking at watch and driving. At night, it would be useful to turn on the back light when there is a turn. Overall - got me to where I was going each time.

Save $1

This app has to be running in order to check the map on your watch. So I have to take my phone out to launch an app on my watch? Thanks Ill use Google Maps instead - at least it doesnt look like it was designed in 1 day by an intern. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Looks good so far

Only got my Pebble yesterday & installed this app last night. A little confusing but does work.

A toy...at most

Although this App has a good idea, it is at most a toy. The navigation mode can barely work because the app cannot locate you accurately. Moreover, browsing map on that tiny screen is inconvenient and dangerous. I ran actually into people a few times when trying to read the watch. All in all, it looks really cool and promising but needs improvement.

Good idea, but too hard to read

I was excited to find this app, but the graphics and rendering are too poor to be of use. Streets disappear when zoomed all the way in. Mystery areas appear in all black, giving the impression of nonexistent lakes and rivers. It has potential, but needs a lot of work before it will be worth purchasing.

LOVE THE APP!!!!

Very much useful when you dont want to hold your iPhone.

Watch

The watch display is not good enough to display map. Dont waste money.

What is wrong with the gps localization?

A genius idea, bur all is lost in the execution. As others have pointed out map is useless, but push up button and you get turn by turn directions which would be perfect, however the real issue is that for some reason the gps localization is terrible. It seems to have hardly any idea whatsoever where you actually are. I have numerous gps apps on the iPhone and the accuracy in all but this one is excellent. Currently nearly unusable.

Unreliable

The idea is great in theory, but the app is incapable of locating you accurately and often changes directions when it thinks you are off course. The map is unreadable unless you are connected to wifi (which is when you would need an app like this) and the turn by turn directions are always too late. I tested out on a few routes I knew by heart, and I can guarantee you I would not have made it. Even the search for locations is unreliable and will often take you someplace you dont want to go. All in all, I would love this app if it worked and maybe it will in the future, but right now, stick to Google Maps.

Good concept

Concept is good and it could be better. Im sure it will as updates come along. For the app, add a current location button so that it zooms to where youre at. Its like searching for a needle in a haystack when you try to find your location. Otherwise, this app is pretty neat. Takes some playing around to get used to everything. Looking forward to future updates.

Does the job

It is as good if a gps directions as you could get on a pebble however, I think that with the update of iOS 8 you can no longer see what you are typing in directions.

Waste of money

Absolute waste of money. 1. You cant search places - only addresses 2. The keyboard covers the search window so you cant see what youre typing until its too late

Crashes!

after updating, the watch face paints nothing but "noise", and crashed when switching from B&W to greyscale. used to work, but doesnt now…

Ux horrible

In practice using Google maps on iPhone works better for directions. It reliably send notifications on turns to pebble and when you need to take a look at the map you actually can see a working picture of the map. The app is more like a (poorly) working tech demo than really meant to be used. If you want to pretend to have a map on your pebble, you can try the app as long as you do not expect it to work in real life.

Please add...

Recalculation if you miss a turn or something!!!!!!

When it works its awesome

Apps UI isnt the most attractive. GPS feature stops responding and providing updated directions as soon as you take the next step (any turn you make) in your travel.
